India Business Barometer: Advancing inclusion

Indian corporate leaders’ expectations about the prospects for the Indian economy and their own companies has moderated, likely owing to a third wave of infections driven by the Omicron variant, and some challenges have intensified, relating to team cohesion, employee safety and covid-induced market uncertainties. India needs to do much more to create a more inclusive and equal society, and Indian corporate leaders are aware of their responsibility in this respect. In their view, the biggest inclusion challenges facing Indian society today are related to health, education and access to financial services, followed by those relating to gender inequality and digital skills.
